The Best TV You’ve Never Seen!

There really doesn’t seem to be a list out there where you can find these great shows that you probably never saw, mainly because most of them are out of Britain, but also because the advertising just didn’t reach many people.

Wire in The Blood – 8.5/10 – Crime | Drama | Mystery | Thriller – 2002 to 2008

Enter the mind of a serial killer.

Skins 8.9/10 – Comedy | Drama – 2007 to Present

The story of a group of British teens who are trying to grow up and find love and happiness despite questionable parenting and teachers who more want to be friends (and lovers) rather than authority figures.

Spooks (MI-5) – 8.6/10 – Drama | Thriller – 2002 to 2011

The missions of MI-5, the UK’s intelligence organization.

Coupling – 9.2/10 – Comedy – 2000 to 2004

On average, men and women think about sex every six seconds. Shorten that to every second, and you’ve got Coupling. It’s more than just a one night stand! When a couple gets together, it’s never just the two of them – they also bring baggage – and Susan and Steve are no exception. Their baggage is a crowd of best friends and exes who talk about all aspects of sex and relationships on their never-ending quest to find true love. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps…

Carnivale 9.0/10 – Drama | Fantasy | Mystery | Thriller – 2003 to 2005

1934, America. The Dustbowl. A fugitive named Ben Hawkins finds refuge within a traveling carnival comprised of a tarot card reader and her catatonic/telekinetic mother, a blind mentalist, a bearded lady, and conjoined twins, amongst others. The carnival is owned by the mysterious and unseen Management, who has designs on the young Hawkins, for the boy is concealing an untapped gift: he can heal the lame and raise the dead–at a price.

Green Wing 9.0/10 – Comedy | Drama – 2004 to 2006

Funky hospital-based sketch-comedy-drama type show.

Misfits – 8.6/10 – Comedy | Drama | Fantasy | Sci-Fi – 2009 to Present

When five young outsiders on community service get caught in a strange storm they soon realise they have developed superpowers.

Paradox – 7.3/10 – Crime | Drama | Sci-Fi | Thriller – 2009

Images of tragedies from the future start being downloaded from a sattelite in space leading a team of detectives to try and prevent them from happening.

Smack The Pony – 7.8/10 – Comedy – 1999 to 2003

A hillarious sketch comedy that you must not miss!

The Catherine Tate Show7.0/10 – Comedy – 2004 to 2006

Catherine Tate stars as a different lead charachter in every sketch in this great comedy!

The Fixer – 7.4/10 – Crime | Drama – 2008 t0 2009

Ex-special forces operative and convicted murderer John Mercer is awarded an early release from prison on the condition that he becomes an assassin for the government.

Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps – 7.3/10 – Comedy – 2001 to Present

A very funny comedy about the lives of four 20-somethings and their quest to become adults.

Top Gear – 9.6/10 – 1978 to Present – Documentary | Comedy

To pass this off as “just another car show” without ever even watching it would be one hell of a shame. The first time I saw it listed I asked myself what the hell it was, truth is I didn’t expect much at all. Nowadays I look forward to every single episode. You don’t even have to like cars to enjoy this show.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May do a spectacular job every week presenting this show! They’re presented with some of the most unique challenges and carry them out with great hilarity. You’ve got great natural dialog by some supremely funny presenters and great cinematography to document it all. Truly a must-see and a real crime that it’s not broadcast in the US. Someone could become quite rich starting a network that just shows these British shows that aren’t broadcast in the US.

If I find more, which I inevitably will, I’ll add them.

If you need help finding where you can get them, e-mail me and I’ll try to help with that also.

Thanks, and please leave me a comment if this post has helped you. I’d love to hear from you guys!

Catherine Tate is awesome! I loved her in Dr. Who also. I like Coupling, the American version was shit and couldn’t last a season. Love Love LOVE Top Gear! If you want a funny show, try IT Crowd, I think you’ll find it right up your alley, Justin.

Hey Anna, I happen to love IT Crowd! Lest we forget about Green Wing, Coupling, and Smack The Pony! And if I may mention a few other Genres, what about Wire in The Blood, ReGenesis, Rubicon, Misfits, Luther, Durham County. And what I consider to be the biggest fuck-up a network has ever made was canceling Lone Star, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen after only two measly but brilliant episodes! Personally I think that one calls for rioting in the streets nationwide! HMMMMPH!
